OVERVIEW

House Week is an initiative created with an intention to facilitate competitive rivalry between the houses. With an aim to reform the way Wolmerians respond to sports day and competitions, it is intended to bring hype and build anticipation for the days leading to the event. It is also to build school spirit for other proposed activities throughout the term. During House Week scheduled for January 13 - 20, there will be a range of activities for students to participate and spectate.

To ensure all houses participate, each house will receive 10 points for entering and participating. For each competition the winning house will receive 40 points while second and third place receive 30 and 25 points respectively.

The activities throughout the week include:

  • Inter-House Quiz – lower and upper school divisions
  • House Vibes/Lyric Freestyle Competition – Upper School Only Event
  • Colour Fest (House Colours Day)

Rules:

Five Persons per team with an entry fee of $100 per person.
The Questions will be based on the following subjects: Wolmer’s History, Jamaican History, Grammar, Geography and Mathematics.

On Tuesday, Form rooms 1W to 1L will host the upper school matches and 1M 
to 1R will host lower school.

Each match will last for 25 minutes. All matches are scheduled to begin at 2:40pm 
each day with the finals being 7:30AM during the final General House Assembly.

TUESDAY JANUARY 14, 2020

Inter-house Football

Entry Fee: $150 per person

Venue: Main Playfield

Please see match sheet.

Participants must wear their house colour for representation.

Inter-house Quiz

Entry Fee: $100 per person

Venue: First Form Block

Five persons per team (both lower and upper school)

Rules: Questions will be based on common knowledge, Wolmer’s History, Jamaican History, Grammar, Geography and Mathematics.

Twenty five (25) minutes per match.
ALL SIX HOUSES WILL PLAY ON DAY 1.

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 15, 2020

Inter-house Quiz

The best 3 out of six with the highest scoring loser or lowest score difference will play.

THURSDAY JANUARY 16, 2020

House Vibes/Lyric Competition (UPPER SCHOOL ONLY )

Venue: TBA

Time: 10:45 to 11:25 AM

One (1) person per house.
Two Raps/Songs must be prewritten and delivered during the first section of the competition and the winner will deliver his second on Friday. One of or both raps/songs should be a chant that is catchy enough for the house to learn.

All Raps and Freestyles must be appropriate. The theme of the raps/songs should be based on House Spirit while instilling confidence and faith in their house members on their quest to be champions on Sports Day.

After the first section, two will be eliminated then each artiste must do a freestyle on spot during the second phase, thereafter two more will be eliminated and a wildcard will be chosen. The final three will do a final freestyle.

The winner will be announced on Friday.

Originality: 20
Delivery: 15

Winning House receives 20 points while second and third receive 15 and 10 points respectively.

FRIDAY JANUARY 17, 2020

House Shirt Friday/Colour Fest

Entry Fee: $100

All students are allowed to wear their house shirt and black/blue jeans pants. Devotion will be
extended to 8:45 AM to facilitate the finals of the Inter-house Quiz competition and the
announcement of the Vibes/Lyric Competition.

 Inter-house Quiz
The finals will be played in the auditorium during the extended devotion. Lower School Finals:
7:30 – 7:55 AM and Upper School Finals: 8:00 – 8:25 AM.

House Vibes/Lyric Competition
The winner will deliver his chant rap/song after the Quiz finals. Other houses will have the opportunity to do a final rave/cheer off before dismissal to classes.

Thereafter, the point’s standings will be announced.
